Nigel is an internationally acclaimed science populariser specialising in astronomy and space. His 36 books and over 1000 articles have been translated into 27 languages, while his TV productions have gained awards both in Britain and in the US.
Nigel is a co-founder of
- one of the UK’s top
30 independent TV production companies, specialising in factual and
scientific programming. His screen credits include BBC Television,
Channel 4 (UK), The Learning Channel, Discovery Channel, WGBH (Boston,
Mass) and ABC (Australia). In 2008, Nigel resigned from from Pioneer to
pursue his freelance career, but still works for his old company as a
consultant.

Previously he has been Astronomy
Consultant to New Scientist magazine, Editor of the Journal of the
British Astronomical Association, and Media Consultant to the Royal
Greenwich Observatory.
In 2006, the International Astronical Union named asteroid 3795 "Nigel" in his honour.
